Creating a blank slate
You can’t rebuild a car if you don’t get rid of the rust.
And if you see rust. There is probably more.
With the polo, this eventually wasn’t true. But I take great pride in that I made sure of that (see also the restauration of the bottom section of the car)
But, as obvious, it had it’s points. And welding was inevitable.
Saldy, this is one of those things I need help with. I just can’t. Just like painting a car it is a profession. And I will leave it to professionals.
So, after acquiring the needed pieces of metal (including the last NOS front of a polo I have ever seen since, Thanks Arno for trading it as I only wanted NOS replacement pieces in there) .
The removal of rust could commence. Leaving me with a blank slate to start rebuilding.
Be aware. Only finding all the needed pieces took a year or more.
For obvious reasons. Some parts where simply replaced as I had them in stock. This includes the doors and front wing, Even with rust though. The old pieces became new stock. Safely stored somewhere for later use if needed (but hopefully never on this one).
